The Speaker of Parliament has issued the writ for the election commission to hold elections on Saturday, 24 August 2014 to elect a new Parliament.

The following deadlines are now in effect for the election process:

51 (2) – At least 5 days after issue of writ – publish the roll in the Govt Gazette.

50 (2) – close of roll 5 pm 21 days before polling day

 

Close of Roll 5pm Saturday 3 August 2019
47(b) – Close of roll for enrolment transfers that have not transferred within the past 6 months. Close at 5pm, 21 days before polling day.

57 (2) – nominations commence at 9 am the day after the roll closes and

 

Nominations Open 9am Sunday 4 August 2019
57 (2) –  nominations close at 5pm 14 days before polling day

 

Nominations Close 5pm Saturday 10 August 2019
63(2) – all mobile polling stations published on nomination day or as soon as possible after

 

Publish Mobile Polling Places on or soon after Saturday 10 August 2019
58 (1)- a candidate can withdraw within 72 hours after the close of nominations.

 

Last day for candidate withdrawal 5pm Tuesday 13 August 2019
62 Publish candidate names and polling places as soon as possible or after the day of the close of the candidate withdrawal period. Sec(58) 

 

Publish names of candidates Tuesday 13 August or Wednesday 14 August 2019
64 (1) – 24 hours after the close of withdrawal the order of candidates on the ballot paper is determined.Draw for position on ballot paper 5pm Wednesday 14 August 2019
56(1) – Polling Day – not later than 4 weeks after the Writ is issued.

55(1) Non-Voters – within one month after polling day send a notice
