Is voting compulsory?
Yes, under electoral law, it is compulsory for all eligible Nauruan citizens who are 20 years or older to be registered and vote in elections.
What if I won’t be in Nauru on Election Day?
You can appoint someone to vote for you. This is called proxy voting and information can be found here: PROXY VOTING
The NEC is working on early voting as well so if you know you will be leaving you may be able to come in and vote early.
My parents are very sick and cannot come to the polling station. What can they do?
Please let the NEC know in advance – information can be found here: MOBILE VOTING. If you complete an application letting us know, we will send a team on Election Day to come to your house to let them vote.
